Our Responsibility
We work fairly, regionally and sustainably towards people, animals and nature. Sustainability is part of our everyday life and is our responsibility towards future generations.
FAIR
When you buy a piece of Lodenwalker Ramsau, you are buying a counterpart to globalised, industrial mass-produced goods. Our customers consume consciously and wear our products with pride and conviction.
Social responsibility
The responsibility we have towards our employees, suppliers, the environment and our descendants obliges us to use our resources responsibly.
Employees as a pillar
Our employees are our most important pillar. We are a genuine family business. This not only applies to us as the Steiner family, but the parents and even great-grandparents of some of our employees have also worked at Lodenwalker Ramsau.
REGIONAL
From wool to loden and from loden to clothing: 100% made in Austria!
Regionally produced
We have been producing loden in the same place for almost 600 years – in Ramsau/Rössing. It goes without saying that we are deeply rooted in this region and have a strong connection to the local people. Every single one of our fabrics is conceived and manufactured in a full-stage process from the raw wool to the finished loden in our factory building.
Without detours
The sample collections are designed and produced locally in Ramsau am Dachstein and in our tailoring shop in Wildon/Styria. This saves long transport routes and we also consistently fulfil the sustainability standards we have set ourselves.
SUSTAINABLE
While companies around the world are endeavouring to achieve sustainability, Lodenwalker Ramsau has been working with what nature has to offer since 1434:
Wool
Then as now, our loden is made from 100% new wool. Wool is a naturally renewable raw material that is also biodegradable. Find out more
Water
100% green energy since..., actually always. Water power has always driven the machines at Lodenwalker Ramsau. Since 1940 the two hydroelectric power plants (Silberkar and Ramsau stream) have been supplying the Lodenwalke.
Air
The traditional Ramsau loden is dried in the fresh air according to old tradition. This gives the loden the opportunity to dry slowly and naturally and protects not only the wool, but also the environment.

For good reason, it has always been called "wear healthy". What was once said intuitively and based on experience
is now scientifically confimed: wear healthy, stay healthy!
